History and meaning intertwine in this backyard ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit). What makes this project unique is that it exists in the backyard of an historic mansion. Originally built as a barn, the small structure underwent upgrades more recently and was in need of a remodel to bring it to life. The footprint of the existing structure was limited, so rather than partitioning the space with walls, we created zones of activity to make the space feel open and inviting.
