MARS Pavilion Lands in LA

The MARS Pavilion, (originally commissioned by Amazon) is on display now at the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in the Los Angeles Arts District. Thanks to our sponsors CTS Cement and Helix Steel, Form Found Design is happy to open up the experience to the public, showing off FFD's digitally designed, and robotically fabricated concrete pavilion. Made entirely out of unique concrete cast elements that are bolted together, the result is a form greater than the sum of its parts. Using a hexagonal grid and harnessing the gravitational forces found in a hanging chain model, this pavilion is not a dome, but a catenary structure, and proof that we can now build with industrial robots. With the help of Walter P. Moore Engineering and ABB Robotics, this pavilion took shape in just under three weeks of fabrication, at a precision level usually reserved for the automotive industry. Come see the pavilion in person while you still can!

The closing reception is set for Oct. 7th and is open to the general public.
